About Elizabeth

Welcome! I am an editor and writer with over 25 years of experience and am passionate about helping writers and their writing grow and flourish.

I work collaboratively with writers to help them find and strengthen their voice and clearly express their ideas. I guide writers through the revision process with patience and attentiveness, providing generative, encouraging, and detailed comments on their work. I invite you to read what past clients have shared about working with me.

My specialties include humanities, social sciences, racial and social justice, poetry, memoir, and creative nonfiction.

Background
I began my career in book publishing at Blackwell Publishing and then transitioned to the editorial office of the National Kidney Foundation’s peer-reviewed medical journals. As a result, I am skilled at helping academic authors distill and express complex ideas, having edited over 900 research articles.

Over the past 20 years, I have been building my freelance editing and writing coaching practice, Greenhouse Editing; I transitioned to this work full-time in 2024. I have edited books, essays, and articles for academic and creative writers in a wide range of fields, including art history, economics, English literature, history, law, memoir, philosophy, and public policy. I also teach writing classes and co-lead a writing group for emerging authors and have provided generative comments on over 120 creative writing pieces.

On a personal note
I am a published poet and visual artist and live in the Boston area with my husband and our two daughters. A few of my favorite poets are Ada Limon, Emily Dickinson, Mary Oliver and Alfred Tennyson. Things that bring me joy: raising our daughters, hot tea, vibrant colors, knitting, yoga, forests, and forget-me-nots.
